Plot: David (Haley Joel Osment) isn't like other boys, but he desperately wishes he was. You see, he's a Mecha, an artificial construct, he just looks, and feels like a real boy. David enjoys a short, nearly normal life, then he's thrust out into the real world where he has to struggle to survive in a world where Mecha are either accepted, or despised. David seeks the secret to becoming a real boy, and is willing to go to the ends of the world, and beyond, to learn how.

Review: A spectacular tale of Pinocchio retold by Spielberg and done rather well. The special effects are fabulous and almost perfectly believable, while the performances across the board are solid and smooth. All this goes into making a great film and a roller coaster of emotional turmoil. From the sadness of the family at loss, to their joy at discovery and capacity to love once more, to the wrenching pain of loss again, and the wonder and terror of the adventure of discovery. Jude Law does an admirable job of presenting a runaway Mecha accused of murder as he guides David through the wild and confusing big city in hopes of escape with the boy who seeks himself and his identity in a world of spectacular wonders. I liked the movie for all it's wonder and adventure, but i think it would be quite a stretch for younger kids to stay with the story and understand it. It's a bit long and a little more than an intellectual investment. It's a story about finding ones self and a bit hard to follow. Parts are a bit boring, but then the next a shot of excitement will give life to the movie, much like life i suppose. A scary look at an extreme possibility in our future, but also one of wonder as much of the incredible science fiction in this movie is believable Some dislike the emotional investment necessary to appreciate this movie, but then i liked the spectacle more than the story, it's a very hard movie to describe easily, and i think it's best left to the viewer to decide if you like it or not. I liked it because i like Jude Law,a nd Haley Joel Osment, as well as some of the smaller bits, played by not so bit actors. It's up to you to know if your kids will like this movie, but i think it's safe to say that the younger kids will find this one confusing and boring through most of it. This isn't a 'feel good' movie, it's a movie to make you think and get involved in it while watching, i generally prefer movies that are more escapism, but i like this one a lot, though it still don't make my top ten list
