Review:
Don't let the NR rating fool ya, this one pushes the envelope of
permissible to the extreme, then it kicks it low and steps over it.
Language, sex, partial nudity, sexual dialog and puerile dialog are
pervasive in this series, so it's definitely not a kid's show. A
firefighter television show for adults, but it panders to the basest of
factors to entertain the adult audience it's aimed at. I don't know
what Leary is thinking, sex and jokes about sex can be hilarious, but
this show is so full of it, it's overbearing and turns me off at times.
It fills far too much time with graphic material that is unnecessary
and eats away at the time better spent on the tales of REAL
firefighting. Though i must admit, some of the situations and antics
are quite hilarious. What i do like is the fact that it does open a
door and show a light on the things that touch the lives of
firefighters and their families. Alcoholism, obsession with work and
other things, adultery, loss, the job, friends, gaining and loosing
them, kids, it touches on them, but it seems to spend too little time
on this and too much on the sex breaks. I will definitely watch what i
can of the second season, but i think i will forgo buying it if things
continue the way they are in the first season.

Plot: So how would
you react to loosing not only four friends, but a cousin and best
friend in the World Trade Center? Rescue Me asks that question and more
as it looks at the life and job of one Tommy Gavin, played by Dennis
Leary. Cat's in trees, people in high rises, it don't matter to Tommy,
he'll rescue anyone who needs it, but can he rescue himself form the
horrors he's seen and the losses he's suffered? Can he rescue himself
from himself, or will someone else pull him kicking and screaming from
the fires of his own personal inferno?
