Review:
I chaffed at some of the changes of this rebuild of the original
Battlestar series, but as i watched it, i grew to love it. Some feel a
bit betrayed by the shuffling of the characters, such as making
Starbuck a woman, but what a woman she is! Powerful, defiant,
intelligent, and headstrong, she's her own person, and defines the
spirit of the original Starbuck in ways that impress me and make me
want to marry her. The story is similar to the original, the Cylons are
hell bent on destroying their creators, but in this one, it all
happened before. This version spends time delving into the
interpersonal relationships and politics as well as the meat of the
story so well, it's a classic that has come into it's time. Many of the
episodes follow in line with the original series, and it shows, even
adds to the enjoyment as we original fans can see what is supposed to
happen, but get to see it all again with fresh eyes, complete with more
special effects and a more mature storyline. Mature is a key word in
this one folks!

The Cylons come in a range of sizes and shapes, from
tall blond and sexy, to short ugly and mean spirited. Sex is a weapon
and tool in this show as one particular Cylons was a key character's
lover, and continues to haunt him even on board Galactica. Sensuality
is
one of the elements used to deliver the story, but it's not overdone
and
obscene, it's a bit much for the sensitive, but it fits all too well
into the tale and also shows how sex can be a devastating tool of war
as a missile with a nuke can be. the action will appeal to most age
groups, but the politics and sexuality might be too much for the
littles. I suggest checking the show out on television before buying to
see if it fit's your family.
Plot: The Cylons
are back and want to put humans in their place! A surprise attack
leaves
the human race with a scant few thousand left as floating refugees, and
they must flee, hide, and fight their way to freedom and safety. Can
Adama lead the rag tag fleet to a mythical thirteenth colony of humans
on a world known as Earth? Will the internal politics, and Cylons who
look like Humans destroy Humanity's chance at survival? Thrilling,
passionate, intriguing and adventurous, the new Galactica will pull you
in and not let go!
