Review: A powerful
film about not giving up and the power of family. Intense and moving,
this one rocked me tot he core and reminded me why both Ron Howard and
Russell Crowe are two of the biggest names in Hollywood. A powerful
reminder that life is hard sometimes and we can all fall from whatever
perch we make for ourselves, but the measure of our strength is not in
how far we fall, but how we pick ourselves up. A movie about a boxer,
but not entirely about boxing, this one is more about the strength of
spirit and family. The boxing is intense at times, and graphic, but
it's boxing after all, so there is that sort of violence. The language
is minimal and not particularly strong. It takes some stomach to watch
the hammering Braddock takes in the ring, so the timid might have a
problem there, but i feel the story is so good, and so well told, that
it's well worth having in the collection.
