Plot: A slice in the life of one of
America's greatest
industrialists, Howard Hughes. Spanning about 20 years of his life
after he came into his own, this film follows the man as he makes and
spends huge fortunes on cutting edge motion pictures as well as
creating cutting edge aviation technology. We get to go inside the
private life of one of the founding fathers of American comercial
aviation, as well as a look at the battles he faced in his military
contracts, developing overseas routes for his airline and the
development of his passion, aeoplanes. Turbuilent technology,
competition, and personal relationships are laid bare as well as the
delicate balance if this mogul's psyche.

Review:
Interesting but drawn out, this movie is a good one for anyone who is
interested in the history of American civilian aviation. I found it
very interesting and instructional to see how a young upstart took his
inherited money to build the best, and fastest airplanes of the time. I
also was held as i watched the obsession of dreams almost destroy a
great man.
At almost three hours, this one is a true
invetment in time, but it's also well worth it for those capable of
staying put. Kids will probably get totaly lost and bored easily in
this one, so keep that in mind. Also the sexual situations and nudity
might be a detriment for parents to let them watch. For the older kids
this DVD set has a lot of documentary info included, so it could be a
good resourse if they are interested in aviation history.
