Review: Oh
yes, definitely darker and more
intense than the previous movies, but then the books also grow more
intense as the showdown between Harry and Voldermort approaches. In
Goblet of Fire, we see the children of magic growing into
their
teen years, and dealing with the normal things most teens do, girls
and boys, boys and girls mostly. As Harry and Ron begin to notice the
girls around them, and Hermione is wooed by Viktor Krum, we see the
interactions between the three change. As to the story it's self and
the meat of it, it seemed a bit rushed to me. Of course one cannot
possibly expect a movie to pack<... is this right 734
pages?! Holee pickled hinkypunks> 734 pages of story into one
film, even Peter Jackson couldn't do that. The film managed to
hit on
most of the high points if not the details of them in the course of
the movie, and i do wish it had been a full 165 minutes to fit more
into it. I would personally have liked to see at least part of the
Quidditch World Cup, or more of the maze task, but they packed a lot
into the film and it flowed quickly enough to keep me riveted to my
seat. |
The action was exciting and I personally loved the Dragon task
more than the others, and the humor is maturing as the kids in the
story do, so we see a more mature trio and their troubles mature as
well. The overall mood of the film was one of foreboding and it was
meant that way as it does deal with a darker side of things to come.
I found the representation of Voldermort to be as powerfully cold and
evil as it should have been, and it set the stage perfectly for the
next movie. The monsters and creepies in this one make it a scary
proposition for the tots, but any kid who can read the books knows
whats coming and should be able to handle it. The language is not a
major concern in this one, it's earned the rating for the material
involved and some of the imagery and violence. Take the family and
have fun with this one, i know some say it's not as good as others in
the series, but i maintain it's just different, some parts aren't as
good, others are definitely better.

Plot: Harry
Potter finds himself at the center of another adventure, this time it
could easily get him killed in front of the entire wizarding world. The
Tri Wizard Tournament is being resurrected at Hogwarts, and Harry is
selected as the fourth of three champions! Dragons lead to lake
monsters, which then lead to a maze of challenges for Harry and the
other three champions, but Harry finds more at the end of the Maze than
he bargained for.
From the Quidditch World cup to a dark and foreboding
final challenge, this could be Harry's most difficult test in his young
life, and his last.
